It seems that Harrison Ford and Ridley Scott are in early talks regarding the possibility of uniting for a sequel to the 1982 Sci-Fi classic Blade Runner.
According to reports on both IGN and Yahoo Movies, Harrison Ford has let slip that both he and Ridley Scott are talking about expanding the story of Deckard and the replicants.
“Yeah, we’ve been chatting about it,” he said. “I truly admire Ridley as a man and as a director, and I would be very happy to engage again with him in the further telling of this story.”
Blade Runner itself was based on a 1968 novel by Philip K. Dick entitled Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep? The movie garnered a cult following and is known for having one of the most striking visions of the future on celluloid.
Rumours are also going around that Ridley Scott may tie up Blade Runner and Alien to the same universe. In Prometheus, a memo to Guy Pierce’s Peter Weyland could be seen, of which hinted that his mentor was none other than Eldon Tyrell – the visionary behind the replicants in Blade Runner.
Was this an in-joke or will the films merge together to some degree? Let’s hope we find out soon.
