Frozen review (2013)

It is now the second most successful animated movie of all-time. Screen Critix takes a look at the all-singing and all-dancing Frozen.

Only the behemoth known as Toy Story 3 has prevented Frozen from breaking more records. Frozen has been a massive hit for Disney Pixar, with children and parents lapping it up at the cinema. It’s not hard to see why. Take some great characters, humour, adventure, a villain or two and an Oscar-winning song and you are bound to have success.

Anna and Elsa are princess sisters. They have led a sheltered life due to the fact that Elsa was born with a strange power – a power to freeze stuff and make snow. One night, while they both played, Elsa accidentally hurt Anna and they were forced to live apart in the palace, with years going by without seeing one another. frozen

Elsa is next in line for the throne though and we see her coronation, but everything goes wrong when she accidentally shows everyone her powers. Ashamed, Elsa runs off to live by herself up a mountain and Anna goes on an adventure to bring her back, with the help of Kristoff – a lovable ice seller.

As usual with this sort of Disney film, we have some comic relief in the shapes of Olaf the Snowman and Sven the reindeer.

While Frozen is nothing groundbreaking in terms of the plot and the way it is handled, what we do get is fun. Anna (voiced by Kristen Bell) is a great leading female character and one that many little girls will definitely look up to, while Olaf will surely go down as a fan-favourite character for generations to come.

Overall Thoughts:

It’s easy to see why Frozen has been successful. The kids will love it and you will find it hard to get ‘Let It Go’ out of your head.
