From a Marvel villain to a musical genius, Tom Hiddleston will play Hank Williams in a new biopic about the country and western star.
A report from Deadline has stated that British actor Tom Hiddleston is about to don the cowboy hat and strum the guitar as Hank Williams in a new film called I Saw the Light. The film will be based on the 1994 book Hank Williams: The Biography by Colin Escott, George Merritt and William MacEwen.
For those who aren’t big on their country singers, Hank Williams sadly died when he was aged just 29 in 1956 due to alcohol and drug abuse. Before he passed away he had a string of number one hits. He received a posthumous Pulitzer Prize in 2010 in recognition for his pivotal role in transforming country music into a major musical and cultural force.
Hiddleston is beloved for his role as Loki in the Marvel cinematic series of films. To some, he stole the limelight in Thor, Thor: The Dark World and The Avengers.
As he prepares for I Saw the Light, Hiddleston released an image of himself as Williams on his Twitter.
More on this when we have it.
