Everybody, calm down. Marvel has announced who will be directing Ant-Man and also given us the plot details to next year’s film too.
Wow, what a drama. First Edgar Wright leaves and then Adam McKay turns down the chance of directing Ant-Man. Fans have been worried and some websites have even called for Marvel to scrap the film entirely, though that was never going to happen.
We now have a director in place, as Marvel announced yesterday that Peyton Reed will sit in the director’s chair. Reed is the man behind the Jim Carrey comedy Yes Man, as well as the Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston film The Break-Up.
Although Adam McKay turned down directing, he will rewrite the screenplay. The plot of the film goes like this.
Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
Yes, we are still interested.
