If Alan Taylor gets his own way, the director could very well have Tom Hardy alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in the upcoming The Terminator reboot.

According to reports from the reliable Hollywood Reporter, Tom Hardy tops Alan Taylor’s wishlist to play John Connor in his Terminator movie. Taylor, who is currently seeing success with his Thor: The Dark World, is busy preparing for his take on the hit Sci-Fi series and sees Hardy as the perfect actor to portray the leader of the resistance.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is, so far, the only definite for The Terminator and will once again play a cyborg sent back in time to kill a woman – Sarah Connor, who will give birth to the leader of the resistance at some point in the future.

Casting rumours also include Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Brie Larson (The Spectacular Now) and Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) all vying for the role of Sarah Connor.

The Terminator was released in 1984 and directed by James Cameron. Cameron returned for the blockbuster sequel Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Terminator 3 featured a female cyborg, whilst Terminator Salvation had Christian Bale and Sam Worthington in the main roles.
