Tom Cruise will again play the character of Jack Reacher in the film Never Go Back, which is based on Lee Child’s latest novel.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Jack Reacher hit the cinemas in 2012. The film was based on the 2005 book One Shot by Lee Child and starred Tom Cruise as the titular hero. The film raked in $218 million worldwide and did good enough to warrant a sequel.
Now, Paramount and Skydance Productions will bring Cruise back as Reacher for Never Go Back, an adaption of the latest Reacher novel. The book, which debuted in the autumn, sees Reacher return to his old military base for dinner with a friend who is now the installation’s commanding officer.
By the time he arrives he finds that she has been arrested, and he is charged with assault and fathering a child, two acts he cannot recall but determines to get to the bottom of.
So far, Lee Child has written 18 books based around the character of Jack Reacher. It will be interesting to see if they become a series of movies with Cruise continually playing the main character.
First though, Cruise will battle it out in Edge of Tomorrow and then return as Ethan Hunt in Mission Impossible 5.
