The headless horsemen is heading back to Sleepy Hollow and with Ichabod Crane missing, Abbie Mills is left to figure out a way to stop him. Review of Sleepy Hollow episode 6 right here.
There is no denying that episode 5, or ‘John Doe’ as it was known, was disappointing and a drop in quality. Luckily for us the viewer, ‘The Sin Eater’ is a big return to form and quite possibly the best instalment in the Sleepy Hollow series to date.
After watching his first ever baseball game, Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) is shot with a tranquiliser dart and kidnapped. Mills is then visited by Crane’s wife in a vision. She tells Mills that Crane is in trouble, that the Headless Horseman known as Death will return to the town and she needs to find The Sin Eater to remove both Crane’s and Death’s blood connection.
It turns out that it is the Freemasons who have taken Crane and in order to prove Crane is who he says he is, they ask him a question that only the real Crane would know the answer too.
The Sin Eater takes us back to Crane’s past in England and his first encounter with demons as well as when he first met his wife.
The idea of the Sin Eater was an excellent addiction to the Sleepy Hollow mythology. Add that with the return of Death and we have a brilliant episode. The only gripe I have is, with all the weird things happening in the town, why is Orlando Jones’ character still sceptical over everything? He should now be definitely open-minded of every little thing.
All in all though, Sleepy Hollow episode 6 was great.
