The character of Christian Grey’s sister, Mia has been cast for the upcoming adaption of Fifty Shades of Grey, with UK singer Rita Ora entering the fray.
Variety made the announcement today, stating that Rita Ora has been given the job of portraying Mia on the big screen. The adaption of the E.L. James book went into production this week after a few hiccups with the casting of Christian Grey. In the novel’s Mia forges a relationship with the main character Anastasia Steele.
This isn’t the first time Rita Ora has featured in a movie; for those eagle eyes, you may have spotted her starting a race in Fast & Furious 6, which starred the late Paul Walker, Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Ora has had a string of hits in recent years, including R.I.P. and How We Do (Party), both of which went to number one in the UK charts. She has just one album at present, the imaginatively titled “Ora”, which also went to number one in the album charts.
According to Wikipedia, Rita Ora was born in 1990 in Pristina, SFR Yugoslavia (now Kosovo) to Kosovar-Albanian parents and moved to the United Kingdom when she was 1. She grew up around Portobello Road in West London, and attended St Cuthbert with St Matthias CE Primary School in Earls Court, following which she graduated from Sylvia Young Theatre Schooland then St Charles Catholic Sixth Form College.
