Predicting Marvel’s Phase 3 and Beyond

Care & share:

The Marvel films have become the biggest business in the movie world. With Thor: The Dark World being released recently, Screen Critix makes some predictions about what we can expect to see soon from Marvel’s Phase 3 and beyond.

Will contain spoilers for previously released Marvel films.

We are nearly halfway through Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe already. Iron Man 3 produced some huge numbers in terms of box office takings and Thor: The Dark World is set to do exceptionally well too. marvel Predicting Marvels Phase 3 and Beyond

The remainder of Phase 2 consists of Captain America: Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers Age of Ultron.

Screen Critix’ Marvel superfan Carl Burgess has made some bold predictions in terms of what we can possibly see in the future, after The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Marvel’s Phase 3 and Beyond.

Ant-Man

This movie has already been announced by Marvel. Set to be directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead) and co-wrote by Wright and Joe Cornish (Attack the Block), little is known in terms of the plot, except that it is rumoured to be a funny script.

Based around Henry Pym, the film will see the scientist Pym find a way to change his size in order to combat bad guys. He can go as small as an ant (hence the name) but also gain the height of a house too. News of casting as remained a bit secretive, but Paul Rudd seems to be the favourite. The main villain of the piece is unknown as yet too. Still, paint us interested.

Doctor Strange

Another film that has been announced, although with no date, is Doctor Strange. The magician is a former neurosurgeon turned sorcerer and acts as the Earth’s guardian against magical and mystical threats.

Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige has already stated that a Doctor Strange movie is incoming, but we have no other details regarding the project, whatsoever.

Black Widow

Natalie Portman has already gone on record, stating that a female based Marvel movie is being planned, although no details regarding which character was mentioned. Black Widow has already been seen in Iron Man 2 and The Avengers, so a fanbase is already built.

A film based solely on the Black Widow, played by Scarlet Johansson, makes perfect sense to us. It could see Natalia Romanova on some incredible espionage outings and Johansson is a big enough name to headline a big Marvel film.

Thor 3

Spoiler alert. Thor: The Dark World was left with on a great cliff hanger. It seems Loki is not dead and pretended to be his adopted father Odin. Thor has returned to Earth to spend some time with Jane so will likely not know what is happening in Asgard.

We predict that he will return to Asgard in order to gain revenge on his brother and stop an invasion and the theft of the Teseract.

The Avengers: The Infinity Gauntlet

Thanos was seen at the end of The Avengers. Those who read the comics know that The Mad Titan manages to get all the infinity stones to make up the infinity gauntlet. With that in his possession, he becomes near impossible to defeat. With the Aether in the Collector’s possession (see Thor 2 mid credits scene) and the Teseract in Asgard, Thanos will have to gather all of them.

We also predict that the characters from the television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will start to appear in the films too. Expect scientists Fitz and Simmons to help defeat Ultron and/or Thanos along with the heroes we love – Thor, Iron Man, Captain America and Bruce Banner.

Phase 4 and beyond

We will touch upon what we think could happen after the third Avengers movie. With The Hulk becoming a fan favourite in The Avengers, we believe that The Incredible Hulk 2 could happen in phase 4 with the possible storyline being taken from Planet Hulk…all of which leads up to The Avengers 4: World War Hulk.

Expect a Guardians of the Galaxy 2 film, as well as a Black Panther and a Sub-Mariner movie. Also, don’t be surprised if Marvel reboot Ghost Rider and Blade and add them into the Marvel Universe, seeing as the rights have returned to the studio.

Either way, we cannot wait to see what Marvel have up their sleeves. Long may it continue.
