After a string of poorly received films, M Night Shyamalan is trying to turn his career around with a low-budget thriller, entitled Sundowning.
His career started off so promising. The Sixth Sense was a massive hit when it hit the cinemas in 1999, and it was followed by Unbreakable, Signs and The Village – all hugely enjoyable movies. Yet his career has took a nose dive as he has continued to bring out some, shall we say “not so good”, films.
The poor run started with Lady in the Water and continued through The Happening, The Last Airbender and After Earth.
Now, M Night Shyamalan returns to the world of low budgets with Sundowning. Although the plot is very sketchy, we do know that Katheryn Hahn (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) stars as a single mother of two, who takes her children to their grandparents, only for things to take a turn for the worse.
Sundowning is really low budget – reportedly costing just $200,000 to make. If you put compare that to After Earth’s $130 million budget, it seems like peanuts.
M Night is also working on another movie called Labor of Love with Bruce Willis.
