As predicted in our review right here on Screen Critix, World War Z could very well have a sequel on the way, with Brad Pitt confirming that talks are taking place.
World War Z was predicted to be 2013’s biggest disappointment. With a huge budget, many thought that the zombie movie would fail to make any sort of profit, yet the film did exceptionally well – making over$536 million in the box office.
Talking to Variety, Brad Pitt has confirmed that they are talking about the possibilities of a sequel.
“We’re certainly talking about it, yeah,” says Pitt. “We have so many ideas on the table from just the time we spent developing this thing and figuring out how zombie worlds work.
“We have so many ideas and so much information; we think we have a lot of stuff to mine from. We’re going to do our best and see what we get out of it. We gotta [sic] get the script right first to determine if we go further.”
Mireille Enos, known for the television crime drama The Killing and for playing Brad Pitt’s wife in World War Z, also spoke about a return.
“We’ll wait and see how the script turns out,” said Enos, “but yes, I’d love to come back.”
Screen Critix rated World War Z 3 ½ stars, with more action and scares needed to improve on the score.
