It looks like Benedict Cumberbatch is to scale Blood Mountain – a new film from director Sergei Bodrov.
It was a mixed year in 2013 for Mr Cumberbatch movies. It started great with him playing the villainous Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness, went downhill with the flop The Fifth Estate, but then went fantastic again thanks to his turn as Smaug in The Hobbit sequel.
He was going to star in Guillermo Del Toro’s haunted house movie Crimson Peak, but has since dropped out. Now, which is great news for all of us, he will star in Blood Mountain. Variety broke the news, whilst Empire Magazine gave the following plot details.
“Jonathan W. Stokes and John Romano have written the script, which finds a military contractor working with a special forces team in a foreign land when the troops are ambushed and offed during a covert raid. He’s forced to escort one of the world’s most wanted terrorists across hostile terrain to bring him to justice. Naturally, there’s a bounty on both of their heads, and with insurgents and rival mercenaries on their trail, they have to figure out how to work together to fight even more dangerous enemies.”
Sounds good doesn’t it? More on this when we have it.
